Do You Know the Way to A-LA?

Mary and I are thrilled that Two Bobbies: A True Story of Hurricane Katrina, Friendship and Survival won a 2008 ASPCA Henry Bergh Award! And -- big bonus -- we get the rare chance to appear together at the ceremony during ALA this summer in Chicago.

If you're going to be there, let me know. I'd love to have coffee, chat or go for a walk along the river.

We're very proud that our publisher, Walker Books, has had many, many books to receive this award. Our wonderful editor, Emily Easton, is a true animal advocate and we feel so blessed to have been matched up with her.

This book has touched so many people, kids and adults alike. But my favorite recent fan email came from a first grade teacher who shared that her kids were playing the Bobbies at recess -- with one child playing Bobbie dog, one playing Bob Cat and one playing Bobbie's chain!

I bet Stephen King never gets email like that.
