A salute to the 442nd

Shiro Kashino earned 6 Purple Hearts and now the Congressional Medal of Honor (posthumously)

I often get asked why I wanted to write The Fences Between Us, and about the War Relocation Camps of WWII, and the 120,000 Nikkei who were sent to them.

  1. I enjoyed your book so much. That is such an important part of the era to remember and never forget. The family of a former principal of mine was sent to one of the camps. The dignity with which they met such a travesty was remarkable.
