I Write Real Good

Barbara O'Connor's recent post spoke volumes about how crazy editing final copy can make a writer, especially those of us who write more by ear than by grammar rules.

I think I've mentioned this book before

but Barbara's post reminded me of it. I can't tell you how many times I've opened SIC to resolve a grammar dilemma. . .and ended up laughing so hard, I couldn't see to type.

Unless you are a Grammar Goddess, like Martha Brockenbrough, you need this book.

(Be sure to pop in tomorrow at noon, for a visit with a darn fine writer who just happens to have won a Newbery Medal and a Newbery Honor and is lately spending lots of quality time with pigs.)

  1. Grammar Goddess... Why didn't I think of that? Big fan of Martha Bee.

I"m sure guilty of writing by ear. Good post Kirby.
