My darling friend and co-author, Mary Nethery, has a new book coming out this spring. I got the Houghton Mifflin Harcourt/ Clarion catalog today which featured her book as the first book in the Clarion section, right next to the new Jeanne Birdsall book, illustrated by Matt Phelan!!! That tells you what they think of this new book of Mary's!
And guess what?! It's not about a dog.
Okay. But it's about a cat. A cat that met a Pope and inspired Verdi. At least, so history goes. And Mary's elegant, warm, witty and tender text is perfectly matched by John Manders' saucy illustrations.
It's not due out until June but you will definitely want to add Nini to your collection!
